Historical Archive: Canterbury cathedral exterior (Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Christ at Canterbury)

present building begun after 1067 fire, completed 1077 under Archbishop Lanfranc
choir, eastern crypt, Trinity Chapel (apse) and Corona Chapel 1174-1184 by William of Sens and William the Englishman
nave Henry Yevely (Yeveley), 1377-81 under Archbishop Simon Sudbury, completed under Prior Thomas Chillenden (1390-1410)
western transept crossing tower (Bell Harry Tower) completed 1498
much rebuilding 1660-1704; northwest tower replaced 1834
