north mound built over Bronze Age barrow (1700-500 BCE), burial chamber dendrodated 958/59
south mound about 970-early 980s
north mound diameter 50 meters (164 feet); south mound 70 m (230 feet), 10 m high (33 feet)
palisade (dendrodated 958-85, probably close to 968), ship setting, and building locations found 2006-13
present tufa church around 1100, excavated 1976-79, interior remodeled Jørn Larsen 2000
wall paintings in church apse Julius Magnus-Petersen 1875, restored 1920s

square white markers indicate ship setting, probably 360 meters long (about 1/4 mile)
vertical white markers indicate palisade; large flat white rectangles indicate buildings
