Historical Archive: Naumburg Western Choir

"Naumburger Meister" under Bishop Dietrich II (1244-72)
sandstone donor figures are structurally integrated with the walls, around 1245-1250, except where otherwise noted
west choir windows 1245-1260
shield inscriptions probably c. 1500-1525, over Gothic uncials with same inscriptions
polychrome on figures 16th century
restored 1874-78, with extensive Baroque additions removed
baldachins re-made 1935/36; two thirds of capitals on them new plaster
